Nurosym in media
“The device that I’ve been clipping to my ear, called Nurosym, could provide an alternative means of stimulating the vagus nerve, and, unlike implanted stimulators, does not require surgery.”
“I put a little electrode here in my ear. It stimulates my autonomic nervous system, trying to make my body more parasympathetic, more chill.”
“There is no trial of any drug or anything I’ve ever done in all my years that makes a patient so well that he or she no longer fulfills criteria for persistent fatigue syndrome”
"The Beat Goes On: Bioelectronics Reduce Heart Problems"
"I put a little electrode here in my ear. It stimulates my autonomic nervous system, trying to make my body more parasympathetic, more chill. "

Dora on regaining restful sleep without interruptions
"Taking sleep pills is not a good thing. The doctors give me just enough to kickstart the brain, but it doesn't help. With Nurosym, that's the symptom it has helped me with."
"I was constantly on edge. I noticed when I started using it consistently for 1 hour a day, gradually I wasn't waking up anxious, I was coming home, I was much calmer..."
Nurosym Stories
Some of the most asked questions, answered
Are there any side effects associated with Nurosym?
As with any device, side effects are possible. However, we're happy to report that Nurosym is considered low risk when used as intended and boasts a very high safety profile. In fact, across all 50+ scientific studies conducted, there have been no reports of serious adverse events associated with Nurosym in studies to date.
While side effects are rare, it's important to be aware of potential experiences. The most commonly reported side effects include:
- Tingling on the skin where the electrode is applied (paresthesia/dysesthesia)
- Discomfort on the skin of the ear (Application site discomfort)
- Application site irritation/redness - if this occurs, try applying a bit of moisture before use, shorten session times, or switch ears
- In the initial weeks of use, a small proportion of users may also experience temporary effects that typically subside within 1-2 weeks of continuous use due to adaptation. These effects may include nausea, headaches, confusion, malaise, or weakness.
It's worth noting that in a published review of non-invasive neuromodulation clinical studies, only 2.6% of users discontinued therapy due to side effects.
Do you experience any distressing effects or transient effects beyond 2 weeks? We recommend discontinuing Nurosym use and contacting us via email for further assistance.
Can I use the Nurosym if I have an earring or a piercing?
It’s completely okay to wear earrings when using the device as long as it is not on your tragus. If you have piercings on the tragus area, we recommend allowing it to heal completely up to a week prior to using the device.
Can I share my Nurosym with others?
All Parasym clinical research has been conducted with each participant using their own personal device. To ensure the safest and most effective experience, we recommend that every individual user has their own device. Patient registration is done for each personal device to guarantee safe use.
If you do choose to share a device, we strongly advise using separate biocompatible components (such as earpieces) and ensuring that the other user is safe to use the technology.
Can I travel with my Nurosym?
Yes, you can! In fact, Nurosym can help relieve inflammation related to high altitude and jet lag, making it the perfect travel companion. Just keep in mind that Nurosym is powered by lithium-ion batteries, so most air travel safety regulations require that it be carried in your carry-on baggage only. For added safety, we recommend checking your airport's guidelines or asking an airport employee before your flight.
Can I use Nurosym if I have a pacemaker or other medical implant?
Nurosym should not be used if you have any active implanted device, including electronic or medical devices such as a pacemaker, cochlear implant, cerebral shunts, or invasive vagus nerve stimulators. Additionally, if you have non-active implants that may potentially interact with the nervous system, such as metal implants, it's important to consult with your healthcare professional before using Nurosym. Users with known severe coronary disease or recent myocardial infarction (within 5 years), as well as pediatric patients, should also seek medical advice before using Nurosym.
Are there any ongoing research or studies about Nurosym?
Yes, indeed! Nurosym is at the forefront of scientific research, continuously investing substantial resources to advance neuromodulation technology. With over $10 million dedicated to studies, we collaborate with over 60 esteemed organizations, including Harvard and UCL, to deepen understanding and improve outcomes.
Our research has resulted in 50+ peer-reviewed papers in leading journals such as Nature and Nature Reviews Cardiology. This includes a meta-analysis of placebo-controlled cardiac studies in JACC, a highly reputable journal with a 21.7 impact factor, ranking among the world’s top 100 journals. These studies highlight exciting breakthroughs in modulating Vagus Nerve Activity, Heart Rate Variability, and more.
We’ve made study findings accessible on our Scientific Evidence page, summarizing key insights for ease of understanding. While many journals use paywalls or technical language, our scientific team has synthesized the information for broader accessibility. Healthcare professionals can also apply for curated access to all our papers through this link.
